Geri made a career change in 1981 when she entered the managed health care industry while completing her undergraduate degree at Nova University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and later earned her Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Introduced to community service and politics at the age of eight, Gerri developed a desire to give back to her community and became involved in numerous community events and political organizations. Some of her community activism included president of her home owners’ association where she brought city officials to the community and encouraged education of the residents; president of the Caribbean American Democratic Club where she again brought education to the community including the importance of letting their voices become heard through voting; area leader for Broward Democratic Executive Committee where she galvanized and trained precinct leaders to educate and get out the vote in their communities; and she served on the Florida Democratic Party’s Legislative Liaison Committee. Geri also volunteered numerous hours on several local campaigns as well as working state and national elections. She is an original member of Women Celebrating Women, a local group of women who, for over the past 12 years, annually support the Lauderdale Lakes Alzheimer’s Foundation and Northwest Federated Club.
