Monica left full-time work at Hunter College in New York City when the family relocated to Lauderhill. The move to Florida gave her an opportunity for some balance of entrepreneurship, community service, and a greater involvement with her family’s activities. She became an Avon Lady and reached the level of President’s Circle for many years. While her children attended Blanche Ely High School, she was a year-round fixture at the school as a band parent, a track parent, a football parent, and a dependable volunteer.
As a long-time resident of Lauderhill, she was a member of the City of Lauderhill Health and Social Services Advisory Board and an active volunteer at the Sadkin Community Center. At Sadkin, she gave countless hours and energy to the seniors program, the holiday food baskets, and the toy giveaway program. For many years she was a Girl Scouts troop leader when she lived in Brooklyn, NY, and continued to do so in Lauderhill. During election cycles, she dedicates time to support candidates who are making a positive impact.
Monica is happily married to Philip, her husband of 51 years, the mother of two children she describes as exceptional, Laura and Philip, and the doting grandmother of two boys, Xavier and Austin, who bring her much joy.
